Every man dies, not every man really lives.
Mel Gibson stars on both sides of the camera, playing the lead role plus directing and producing this brawling, richly-detailed saga of fierce combat, tender love and the will to risk all that's precious for something more precious: freedom. In an emotionally charged performance, Gibson is William Wallace, a bold Scotsman who used the steel of his blade and the fire of his intellect to rally his countrymen to liberation. Filled with sword-clanging spectacle, Braveheart is a tumultuous tapestry of history come alive, "the most sumptuous and involving historical epic since Lawrence Of Arabia" (Rod Lurie, Los Angeles Magazine).

A masterpiece worth owning! - 5 out of 5 (8/22/2000)
When you think about it, there are really very few masterpieces in the cinema world. The American Film Institute brought the list down to a hundred, the Critic's association brought that list down to twenty, yet someone else whittled it down to ten. After seeing "Braveheart" last night for the hundredth time, I have it whittled to one.
The movie is magnificent in sheer terms of film wizardry alone! When you add the fact that the script was fantastic and the storyline was flawless, you see w

One resistor, William Wallace, who had already killed an English sheriff, started forming an army of his own to help oppose the English. He defea

One of the best movies made. - 4.25 out of 5 (7/15/2002)
Mel Gibson goes far and beyond in this movie. He has shown me that he can do so much more with his talents (ie. Directing and producing).

it has all of its original footage! - 5 out of 5 (12/13/2001)
sniffle sniffle...it's so beautiful i could almost cry. they didn't chop the top and bottom off on this widescreen. wonder what i'm talking about? watch your vhs copies of the matrix, gladiator, saving private ryan, terminator 2 etc.. and you'll see you're losing 20% of the footage top to bottom for almos all widescreen dvds. wonder why? ask them.
